Cancelling Scheduled Games

Process for Cancelling Scheduled Games

UpdatedSunday April 30, 2017 byMLL.

Sometimes there are situations that require games to be cancelled, The City Of Melrose can close fields due to weather or sometimes field conditions made at game time can cause a game to be cancelled.

Process for Determining Game Cancellations

Situation: If the City closes the fields.

The City will try to make the decision to close the fields by around 2 PM based on the weather.

If the city closes the fields the President will make sure the umpires are notified.

Situation: City does not close the field.

If the city has the fields open and you get down to the field and it is not safe to play or the conditions mean that we would damage the field then it is your responsibility to call off the game.

The umpires are paid if they show up so when games are canceled we need to notify the umpire. If you call the game due to field conditions it is your responsibility to notify the umpire.

Remember you need to notify the your team when the game is cancelled – this is easy to do through the website.

Also when a game is cancelled you need to work with the other team’s manager and your league rep to reschedule / make up the games – so we can determine field availability and umpires where needed.
